Setting up ecoStrips for the first time

1. Go to Settings → Reading and increase the number of posts per page to something like 40.
2. Customize ecoStrips by going to ecoStrips settings in the WordPress administration area (This option can be found towards the end on the left panel in the administration area).
3. Goto Appearance → Widgets in the WordPress administration panel and add the widgets you want by dragging and dropping them to the Headerbar and Footerbar blocks. Don’t forget the bundled Post filter plugin.
4. Similarly, fill up the Right Sidebar and Footerbar areas with other widgets you want.

Publishing images

ecoStrips depends on WordPress’ post thumbnail feature which was introduced in version 2.9. Hence, ecoStrips needs WordPress 2.9 and above to work.

1. Write your post title and body. WordPress doesn’t let you choose a post thumbnail (explained in the next step) unless this is done.
2. On the right side of the post page, you have your standard option boxes (Publish, Post Tags, Categories) etc. When ecoStrips is active, you should see a new option box titled Set featured image below all the option boxes (You might find it convenient to drag it and put it right below the Publish option box). Click on the Set thumbnail
3. The standard image/file manager pops up. Click on the Show link beside the image you want (In the Media Library tab if you have already uploaded). When the selected image’s options show up, click on the Use as featured image link.

Setting up ecoPhoto2 for the first time

1. Go to Settings → Reading and choose A static page option, and a static page you have created as your Frong page:. A static page is simply a page with some text. For instance, create a page called ‘Homepage’ by going to the Pages menu and entering some text. Similarly, create a page called ‘Blog’. In Settings → Reading, choose your ‘Homepage’ and ‘Blog’ page for the Front page and Posts page options respectively.
2. Customize ecoPhoto2 by going to ecoPhoto2 settings in the WordPress administration area (This option can be found towards the end on the left panel in the administration area).
3. Goto Appearance → Widgets in the WordPress administration panel and add the widgets you want by dragging and dropping them to the Right Sidebar and Footerbar blocks. Don’t forget the bundled iDesignEco Social Widget!
4. Similarly, fill up the Right Sidebar and Footerbar areas with other widgets you want.

Adding images to the homepage slideshow

The recommended dimension for the homepage slideshow images is 1000×400 pixels (width x height)

1. Go to the Slideshow option in the WordPress admin menu. This should be right above the ecoStudio settings option.
2. Just like you would create a normal blog post, create a slideshow post and assign a featured image to it. This featured image will show up as the slideshow image on the homepage.
